“Nature from head to toe” – trailblazing brand, Allbirds, are strides ahead of many other footwear companies in terms of sustainability. Roughly 57% of footwear and 64% of apparel is made from synthetic materials. Allbirds favours renewable, natural materials like ethically sourced wool. Where natural alternatives are not possible, they’ve innovated new materials like SweetFoam® or used recycled materials. For example, their laces are made of recycled plastic bottles! One company who has taken charge of their environmental responsibility is COS. Not only future thinking in terms of style, but they are also leading the trend for using materials that protect animals and the people who farm them. So far in 2021, 86% of their materials were sustainably sourced or made from recycled materials, and they won’t stop until all their garments are ethical and environmentally friendly.
A super eco-friendly initiative that everyone should know about is the recycling reward scheme at & Other Stories.
